In most cities there is at least one warehouse type of discount carpet store where you can save a lot of money. To put it more precisely you can save money on the carpet itself but you must first be sure it is good carpet to begin with. It is true you can sometimes get a great deal on discount carpet. Carpets are discounted for several reasons including reduction in popularity, manufacturer error in production and inferior products. The public is finicky so if the colors of any particular season are hunter green and maroon, chances are you can find blue, yellow, brown and any other color carpet color discounted. Small manufacturer flaws can be a good deal, but aren't always; it depends on the flaw.

As many people already know, you can get cheap carpet and it can last you a fair amount of time in some cases. Remember, however that you will need to have your old carpet pulled up and removed and the new carpet installed which all costs extra. If the discount carpet store offers the service, chances are that is how they make up their money. You may be better off hiring your own carpet installer. It is also good if you are not particularly picky about types of carpeting. That's not a bad thing, not all people are the same. You will want something that is at least comfortable to walk on without shoes though. If you do buy discount carpet make sure you know what is included if you have them install it. Remember, this is how they are going to make their money so consider hiring your own installer, but if you don't, find out what is included in the price. Most of the time it is a better choice to buy carpet at a discount carpet store but have your own installer.
