If the water leaving your home does not have a clear path to the sewer line you are in for trouble. This will lead to clogged drains and toilets that do not flush properly. Damage to this pipe will not only lead to nasty leaks but also may allow air into your drainage system. Air in your pipes will lead to drains that back up.

Assessing your other home water pipes

It is important to check the rest of your home water pipes as well. To do this, turn on every tap in the houseone at a time, including those that feed water to your wasing machine. Make sure there are not significant differences in the amount of pressure on different floors. This could be a sysmtom of a larger plumbing problem. You also want to take the time to flush every toilet to make sure that they flush properly and they refill in an appropriate amount of time. Take the time to check under each sink and behind every toilet for dampness, this could be a sign of a leak.
