1. About how many letters and packages do you mail per day? * ?
If you send less than 25 letters and packages per day, you can get by with a low-end postage meter that requires you to manually feed each piece. If you send more than 25 pieces, consider a meter with an automatic feeder. Feeders are rated by speed and can process 15 to 270 envelopes or tapes per minute.
2. How much do you typically spend per month on postage? * ?
If you spend more than $50 per month on postage, your office will benefit from having a postage meter. It's convenient, saves time, and can reduce your expenses by printing precise postage every time.
3. Will you need a postage scale with your meter? * ?
Postage scales weigh letters and packages to determine the exact postage you need, minimizing the use of excessive postage. You can purchase an inexpensive spring scale for low-volume mailings or a pricier, customizable digital scale for frequent mailing of packages of various weights. The most efficient solution is a postage meter with an integrated scale - these models automatically enter the correct postage for you.
4. Which of these additional features do you want? * ?
If you want increased security and usability, a digital postage meter can provide options for password-protected access, accounting codes, automatic postage reset and date advance, customized logos and messaging, and saved presets. Larger meters can include feeders that automatically process many pieces at once, sealers which moisten and close envelopes, and stackers that places metered mail in a catch tray.
(please check all that apply)
5. Do you currently have a postage meter? * If yes, please note brand/model
6. How soon do you need the postage meter? *
7. Do you need to print shipping labels or postage for packages? * ?
The meter prints the indicia - the mark that takes the place of a stamp - directly on the envelope. When sending larger packages or odd-shaped mail, it's not always possible to print the indicia directly onto the mailing piece. In these cases, strips of adhesive paper, called tape, are fed through the meter and affixed to the package. You may need a meter with a tape dispenser for improved accuracy and to avoid wasting postage.
8. What is your zip code? * (We only serve U.S. businesses at this time.)
9. What is your email address? * (e.g. john@example.com)
10. Please describe any special features or additional information about your request. [Optional]

An Introduction to Postage Meters

Depending on what you spend each month on postage, your business could benefit from investing in a postage meter. No matter the size of your company, metered mail will offer a professional "stamp" on the post that you send. You can also use a postage meter to improve employee productivity by cutting down on outings to the post office multiple times a week.

Finding the right postage equipment

The first and most important choice to make is between a postage meter and a postage scale for your business. Postage meters are available through USPS authorized dealers by lease; many postage meters automatically come with digital postage scales, although scales can be purchased separately.

Office postage meters will include basic postage capabilities, as well as advanced features like password protected access, automatic postage reset, and saved presets for common postage settings.

How to find the best postage scale deal

If your leased postage meter doesn't come with a postage scale, buying a separate scale can be advantageous. The average business can save up to 20% by weighing mail exactly to prevent overpayment. Postage scales are available as either digital or spring scales; digital postage scales may offer direct connectivity to provide accurate pricing for other shippers, like UPS and FedEx.

You can use BuyerZone's free dealer comparison tool to compare postage scale features and benefits from different providers.
