Going Paperless: Understand What Businesses are Choosing
Going paperless is a great goal -- but when buying a document management system, it's tough to know how you compare to other buyers. Here's a look at some data we've gathered from our users that can help you in your purchasing process.
What does it all mean?
There are a few points that stand out.
- While just over 50% of users will be scanning fewer than 300 pages per week, there's a surprising bump at the high end of the spectrum: that 11% of buyers who plan to scan over 2,000 pages per week. We wonder how they've been getting by without a document management system to this point.
- Most of our buyers intend to have only a few people using the system. This number may change if you consider "users" to be people who need to access the documents once they've been scanned, instead of just those who are responsible for getting the scanning done.
- It's an interesting split about hosting. A large percentage of our buyers want to host the system in-house - and an equally large percentage are undecided between local and outsourced hosting. However only 8% prefer outsourced, at least initially. With the rapid growth of SaaS in all kinds of applications, we expect this result to shift in the near future.
