(example answers)
  • I need two trays/rolls that are 17 in X 36 in wide. We need a black and white projection plotter. WE don?t want design jet, it has to be laser. The speed should be 10 sheets per minute of standard Size 32 by 24. The Plot should be 36 in wide & 14 ft long.
  • Please provide me a price estimate for a 24 x 35 color for Autocad 200 lite. We will be running it on XP Pro.
  • The plotter we are looking for should have a 24" x 36" format and scalable reduction.
  • I would like to print blueprints that are 24 by 36.
  • I am an architect and need a plotter that produces 24x36 documents for civil and landscape plans.
  • Our company is looking for a black and white or color printer/plotter capable of roll feed 60" wide. Ideally it will have 5mil matte one side or matte on both sides for use on mylar. The plotter must be compatible with current HPGL drivers. We also require extremely accurate printing over the length of the plot. An accuracy of 1/32 over 60" is tolerable. This machine will have light use but when we need it, we need it.
  • Are there leasing options available?
  • We would be open to either a buy or lease option.
  • Color is not required, black and white is sufficient. Speed is the most important factor, and I prefer a plotter that would be like a laser printer so that the ink lasts longer.
  • Currently I am unsure if I will be leasing or buying. This printer would need to be able to handle needlepoint fabric.
  • I do not know if I need one roll or more. I only want to copy 11 x 17's onto larger paper for lawn art patterns. The copies need to be 24 x 36 or larger. Used is preferable because I don't make enough sales to warrant an expensive copier. Kinkos prices are killing me.
  • An ethernet port is a requirement and I prefer to buy rather than lease.
  • These are my large format plotter requirements. I am looking for a Designjet 4500ps printer and an extra full set of ink cartridges. Network installation is required, and we will need bright white bond paper. In addition, I would like 256 megabytes of memory with total memory of 512 megabytes. If possible, I would also like one additional 42" roll feed spindle.
  • This plotter will be used to copy CAD drawings of 24" by 36". The will be mostly black with some color scanning also.
  • We need high speed plotters for two offices. We currently own one OCE and one HP plotter.
  • In addition to the plotter, we will need high volume ink wells.
  • My company needs a plotter and a laminator. I have been looking at a Mutoh 1614. This is the type of printer I am looking for.
  • I am a steel subcontractor. I receive blueprints from the general contractors via emails. I would like to print these blueprints at my home office without running to the local printing company. Most prints are black. They are rarely in color except when changes are made. I prefer prints of 36 x 24, no smaller.
  • I am interested in a purchase price and a lease price. I need to print to this machine from personal computers and Unix workstations.
  • I am looking to purchase a scanner and printer that caters to both cad files and can do color banners and posters.
  • I am looking for a unit that will print, scan and copy. I will be printing DWF and PDF files. I looked at a used Lanier LW310 but it wasn't of good of quality. I found the HP T1100 MFP and it looks like it would do the job, but they retail for over $20k. My price range is in the $10-$15 range. I need at least a 30" wide capability for architectural drawings.
  • I currently use a 24" inkjet plotter that needs to be replaced. The plotter I currently have is a HP450. I want a new one that will print 24" inch wide and up to any length.
  • I desire a new HP Plotter for engineering drawings. Regular sheet roll loading will suffice. Approx 1 % of my drawings are printed in color. I have an old HP Designjet 755CM to trade in.
  • I need a wide format printer, possibly a cutter. Perhaps something like a Roland color Cam would be nice but not necessary. I will be using this for outdoor vinyl printing. It would be a bonus if it can do heat transfers.
  • I want a plotter that will hook up to my laptop so I can print out plans that are 24x36.
  • I want to purchase this plotter/cutter for airbrushing decal work. I need the software to be compatible with Vista and able to import PDF files.
  • I would like a KIP 6054 scan to copy. I will need a 4-roll printer with stack tray, monitor and extra external PC for scans. I am curious about what this will cost.
  • I would like a printer/plotter that will enable me to print detailed antique map images and cut decals.
  • I'm interested in purchasing a Xerox 6050A4 with scanner.
  • I've had and loved a HP Designjet 330 for years. My new computer is running Vista Business and won't support it. I need basically the same thing, maybe with some color for my house plans.
  • I am interested in an OCE TCS500 system, or true equal.
  • Please provide information on a KIP3000 or Aficio W3600.
  • I just need a plotter to print construction plans. I do not require color, and am running Windows Vista.
  • This plotter will be used for trade show signs. I am sick of people making mistakes and taking too long. This machine will be low volume, but I may also use it for large photo printing.
  • I would like information on leasing a 24" or 36" printer.
  • Our company is looking to buy a large format printer. We are a medium size business. Our needs include printing posters to hang inside our retail stores. We operate on MAC platforms and need an Apple friendly printer. One important thing is having a local company that can help us get up and running. Thanks.
  • The most important thing to us is to be cost effective. We are a small construction company and speed is not a priority. Scanning and copying are nice to have features. The resolution can probably be pretty low since we will only be printing plans. As for paper width , 24" wide should be enough.
  • The plotter we purchase must be able to handle large file sizes for ACAD 3D drawings. I would prefer an external hard drive with memory enhancement.
  • My plans are to print vehicle wraps as well as high resolution photos for artwork. I will also be doing some CAD drawing. The large format scanner is for scanning CAD drawings.
  • We need a multiuse scanner and plotter for CAD files. It must have a good print capacity and not need to have pages inserted by hand.
  • I am looking for a plotter that will plot layouts in both 24"x36" and 36"x48" sizes. It should have the ability to copy plans of those sizes and the ability to scan plans of those sizes.
  • This plotter will be used for autocad drawings. An economic price is essential.
  • The plotter we purchase must be able to print on different types of paper or canvas. It will also have to be used on archival types of paper and inks.
  • The plotter must include a network adapter.
  • We require network compatibility with a Novell Server.
  • The wide format printer must work with a networkable Windows server 2003, and be Windows XP/Vista compatible.
  • This plotter is for networked computers in a theatre design lab.
  • The plotter must print consistently because we use our mylar plots as templates for measuring and making our products.
  • Our need is for a plotter, copier, scanner for both color and black and white documents.
  • I want a Postscript, RIP, Photoshop compatible plotter.
  • This plotter will run on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. We will need roll paper of a 24" x 150' with a 2" core.
  • This printer/scanner will be utilized by an electrical equipment manufacturing sales office. We are looking for a device that is easily maintained as a service contract may not be a reality. Color printing is not a requirement. Black and white or grayscale is acceptable. The minimum scan resolution is 600 dpi x 600 dpi. The number of copies will be approximately 30 per month, and number of scans approximately 100/month. We would prefer a device that allows for an option to print to either 36"W or 24"W. The unit must include a OS System and hard drive to store scans or allow the transfer of the documents to a PC on the office LAN. A dedicated workstation with software is preferable.
  • We are a small business. We need high quality, but not high output. A major concern is the cost of ink, over-all cost of the unit and how well it runs with CAD.
  • We are currently using an Autocad & SDS/2 (structural steel detailing program by design data) for cad drawings. We would also like to print large format color photos at a fair resolution and quality from different windows programs. In addition, we would like to be able to scan large format drawings for direct copies and to save to a disk.
  • Right now we own an Autocad 2005 and a Houston Instrument DMP-161. These machines are not compatible. We are looking to purchase a plotter that works with both Autocad 2005 and Windows XP2000.
  • We will be printing from CD's or from CAD program drawings.
  • I want to compare the Canon ipf6100, Epson SP7880CP and whatever HP product compares to these.
  • Top priorities for this purchase are speed, how quiet the machine is, and possibly the ability to print in color. I prefer to purchase rather than lease. It should be capable of scanning directly to a PDF or server. I don't know if I want a separate scanner or if built in is better. We are using a separate scanner at the moment but is only useable with our old plotter. We currently have Xerox 882d plotter and Xerox 8825 DDS scanner.
  • We will need plotters that work with both Mac and PC.

Real-world plotter prices from BuyerZone users

There are a couple of significant factors that will impact how much you'll pay for a plotter.

Buying used wide format printers: what you need to know

The first thing that you need to learn before you shop around for used wide format printers is the difference between "used" wide format printers and "refurbished" wide format printers.

Finding the best plotter dealers

When seeking the best plotter dealers, you should find at least 4 to 6 companies by requesting a free quote through BuyerZone or performing your own online research.

Understanding large format printers

Large format printers are application-specific, so you'll find different machines based on the type of business you run and the type of printing you want to do.

Plotter cutter purchasing basics

A plotter cutter is similar to a regular wide-format printer, except that it uses a cutting blade instead of a writing stylus or printer head.

Uses of wide format vinyl printer

A wide format vinyl printer can be used for many purposes. Commercial businesses can use these printers to create sales banners or special event banners.
