Many businesses need reliable digital copiers for their day-to-day activities. While getting the best deal on a copy machine is important, you also want to find the right supplier, one that can help you overcome specific business challenges.
BuyerZone's copier suppliers work closely with you to learn how they can help your business run smoothly. We asked several of our suppliers about purchasing difficulties their customers faced and what solutions they provided. They gave us these great examples of how a copier dealer can help overcome problems.
The value of customer satisfaction
A good copier supplier will be there for you, even after the sale. "I worked with a law firm who wanted to buy a used copier," explains Charlie Taylor, Sales Manager at Advanced Business Copiers in Houston, Texas.
"After shopping around, the law firm decided to purchase a refurbished machine. For some reason, the machine wasn't acting right. We sent them a newer model with less mileage on it at cost, and refunded $1,000 of their purchase price. It was worth it to keep them as a client and make them happy they worked with us."

Salvage your current equipment
In some cases, a supplier can step in and assist you with a copier problem, even if you didn't purchase it from them. "One customer contacted us after having a horrific service problem with their current vendor," says Tony Loiacano, President of Eastern Copy Fax in Essex, Massachusetts.
"They were ready to abandon the machine and return it to the leasing company. Instead, we stepped in, learned what the issue was, and solved the problem on the first service call. We made the customer happy with their existing equipment and saved them from having to spend money on a new machine."
Go above and beyond the call of duty
You can't afford for your equipment to go down when you need it most. "A real estate company was in the midst of their end of the month time crunch to get their work done," describes Martin Jackson, Vice President of Copynet Office Systems in Plano, Texas.
"At 4 p.m. on a busy Friday afternoon, the company's copier went down. We immediately sent a technician to evaluate the problem. When he couldn't fix the problem right away, he installed a replacement machine on the spot, reconfigured the network, and made the office operational to close out the month. We stayed well past business hours to make sure the customer's specific needs were met."
Consolidate equipment and save
Even if you think you're only a candidate for a barebones copier, a supplier may offer an enhanced solution that can save you money in the long run. Morgan McDonnell, a sales manager for United Business Solutions, suggests looking into multifunctional devices.
"One company came to us looking for a simple black and white copier," says McDonnell. "Instead, we looked at their entire business and their output environment and set them up with a networked multifunctional color machine that ended up saving them 15% to 20% in operating costs. Instead of settling for a low-end product, they got what they needed with additional benefits to their bottom line."
Russell Varing, President of Integrated Business Solutions in Montclair, California, helped a customer save money by combining the functionality of two separate devices into one component.
"A non-profit organization was paying about $500 monthly to lease a high-speed copier and another $200 monthly for a separate printer that wasn't connected to the network," says Varing. "We went in there and replaced the unit with a same-speed copier that also served as the company printer. This reduced their cost of ownership by 20% and increased their productivity by 50%. Now, they only have to deal with one company for their copying and printing needs."
Tell the supplier what you're looking for
Sometimes, it pays to let the supplier know more information about your business. "A newspaper publisher and editor called on us when they were in the market to purchase copiers for their offices," explains Jason Levkulich, Director of Marketing for NovaCopy in Nashville, Tennessee.
"Through consultation, we found they also outsourced the printing of paperback books. We informed them that some of the products we offered could print the same quality paperbacks that one finds at a publishing house. Both of them realized they could use our copiers to print their books in-house and save money."
