Staplers: Product Overview

Staplers are one the most recognizable symbols of the modern office. With a quick slap, you can semi-permanently join 2 to 20 sheets of paper. When you need new staplers for your office, there are a couple of options to consider.

The most common model for office use is the desktop stapler, an inexpensive way to staple up to 20 or 25 sheets of paper. They're best used on a hard surface like a desk. Some can be flipped open to use for tacking onto flat surfaces. Almost all use standard staples.

For use on the go, hand staplers are designed to be used without a flat surface, for similar amounts of paper. For larger stacks of paper, heavy duty staplers use longer staples and more leverage to bind as many as 200 sheets at once.

For high-volume stapling, electric staplers can greatly improve the efficiency of your document production. They're quiet – no pounding necessary – and automatically staple each set of pages as you insert them.

Lastly, staple guns are a good option if most of your stapling is used to attach flyers or signs to walls. They provide good penetrating power to attach paper, vinyl, or cloth to wood or other surfaces.

For an alternative approach, consider a stapleless stapler. That's no typo: stapleless staplers punch small paper flaps out of a few sheets of paper and wrap them together like a buckle. While they keep metal bits out of your recycling bins, stapleless fasteners only work on about 3 to 5 sheets of paper, and they don't fasten all that securely.
