We regularly survey BuyerZone customers to ask how their purchases went. We've used their responses to provide a sampling of actual prices paid for residential video surveillance systems.

Most of the prices listed below are for complete residential video surveillance systems that include multiple cameras and a DVR. Monitors are not typically included.

Note that these are not the cut-rate systems you'll find online or at home improvement retailers. Dealers tailor these packages with multiple components so the customer gets a reliable, quality system without having to piece a solution together.

It's important to consider costs for installation and extended warranties when shopping for home CCTV systems. Depending on the complexity of your system, dealers may build installation into your costs or charge an additional fee.

As for warranties, the manufacturer of the main components will typically back up their products with a 90-day guarantee. However, you may elect to pay a bit more for an extended warranty or maintenance plan to keep up your system's performance.
