Real-world Credit Card Terminal Pricing from BuyerZone Buyers

We regularly survey BuyerZone users to ask how their purchases went. We've used their responses to provide a sampling of actual prices paid for credit card terminals.

Credit card terminals are not terribly pricey: the most common prices are around $200 to $300. Many outlets offer refurbished terminals that are even less expensive - if you go this route, make sure you have a spare terminal, just in case.

The only real jump in prices is for wireless terminals. Wireless credit card terminals go for $500 to $800 or more - but the ability to take a terminal on the road is worth it for some businesses. Some models can store dozens of transactions and batch-process them when an Internet connection is available.

Keep in mind that you don't always have to pay for credit card terminals. If you're signing up for a new merchant account, many providers will offer you at least a basic terminal at no charge. However, if you anticipate significant credit card volume, make sure you get a terminal that can handle the job, even if you have to pay a little extra.
