BuyerZone's Marketing Manager details how to get your emails delivered and make them look right
When looking for a mailing list broker for an email list rental, make sure you avoid “junk lists” which consist of addresses harvested from various web sites. These lists may include a million names and addresses on CD-ROM, but they usually have little to no value. A junk list can severely damage your business’ reputation and it’s also illegal.
Make sure you find a legitimate email list rental service that offers true opt-in records. These are obtained through various means – marketing research companies, surveys, and interviews. They are not addresses obtained from list swapping or compiling without permission. These lists only go to people that agreed to receive emails from companies.
Here’s something you may not know about an email list rental – you never actually receive the names and addresses on the list. The broker will email your marketing message on your behalf and track how many are being opened along with the “click-through rate.” Brokers are also careful to adhere to the Can Spam Act by honoring all customer requests to “opt-out” of all mailing lists, or specific lists.
Your email list rental gives you one-time access to the names and addresses. When you rent a list, it’s typically for a one-time marketing campaign. However, some brokers provide lists for unlimited use in a given time period for an added fee.
