Monitored security systems help deter burglars, discourage theft, and ensure employee safety. These systems are supervised by central monitoring stations, which will alert local police to dispatch authorities to the scene if there is a break-in or disturbance.
Monitored security systems detect intrusion and protect your company. Your alarm is pre-programmed with your business or home information and connected to your phone lines. When your alarm system is tripped, its control panel sends the relevant details to the monitoring center.
When monitored security systems are set off, the central station will call the phone number connected with the alarm and ask for a passcode to confirm the person belongs there. If they don't hear the right passcode, or if they get no answer, they will immediately send authorities the scene. The central station may also contact the designated keyholder - someone who’s responsible for determining if there's been a break-in.
Monitored security systems are set up to contact authorities within 45 seconds of the alarm going off. And should they lose power, the systems must have a reliable backup source - either a second central station that will continue monitoring your alarm, or a backup generator with 10-15 days worth of power on reserve.
